The transition between indoors and out is becoming less and less distinct. Architecture is clearly leading the way by deliberately blurring the boundaries. Walls and floors running uninterrupted from the living room to the terrace, large glass sections with no visible frames, and exclusive new properties and flats with transparent balconies overlooking the harbour, all allow a direct view into the living room. Interest is drawn immediately onto furniture design in the outdoor area.

“These indistinct boundaries between indoors and outdoors make far higher demands on furnishings in the outdoor space,” say furniture designers Peter Hiort-Lorenzen and Johannes Foersom, Members of Danish Designers.

The trend towards real designer furniture for outdoor use is clearly expressed in the Cane-line Outdoor collection 2007, with as many as five new furniture items developed in close collaboration with two of Denmark’s leading contemporary designers, Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen.
