Teak is a dense, fine-grained hardwood with a high natural oil content. It is exceptionally hardwearing and almost impervious to the effects of sun, rain, frost and snow.

For these reasons, teak is the wood of choice for the manufacture of outdoor furniture.

Teak requires no special care other than occasional cleaning. If teak is not left to age naturally outdoors, exposed to light, air and rain, its surface will gradually change to a soft silver-grey as the pigments in the surface layer of the wood begin to pale.

If teak is not regularly cleaned, it can undergo a considerable change of colour (becoming dark grey) or develop a grimy surface.

Maintenance

To restore stained of faded teak furniture, start by using Gloster Teak Cleaner. This powerful detergent-based solution removes filth and oils that accumulate on the surface of the wood. For its part, Teak Brightener deeply penetrates the wood, dissolving all grimy residue and dirt.

Sealer

To preserve the original golden brown colour of your teak furniture and provide extra protection against spills and stains, we recommend that you follow up with a layer of teak sealer.
